Estimating is unlicensed. The recognised certifications are the American Society of Professional Estimators Certified Professional Estimator and the AACE International Certified Estimating Professional, with the AACE Certified Cost Professional covering broader cost engineering. A construction management or engineering degree is common but not required. Software proficiency in takeoff and estimating packages is expected and should be named.

Describe the work in the units the trade uses: square footage, linear feet, tonnage, service calls per day, machines run, crew size. Chief estimators ask three things: how many bids you turn out, how many you win, and how your awarded jobs performed against your numbers.
